House Matches 2019
Thank goodness for sunny weather this morning! Today saw the whole school from YR to Y6 taking part in our annual house match competition.
Many children competed in sporting activities such as football, netball, cricket, table tennis, dancing, welly wanging, dressing up races and obstacle courses, while other children focussed on creative activities such as Art, drawing super hero comic strips, icing, modelling with playdough and designing floating boats. The aim was to win points for your houses in all areas. Everyone had a great morning and thoroughly enjoyed taking part. Thank you to all the teachers for coming up with such a diverse range of activities for the children to compete in.
An accumulation of results is happening as we speak and the cup winners for KS1 and 2 will be announced tomorrow morning in Gold Book assembly.

Kelvedon v St John's Green - match report
Kelvedon St
Mary’s vs St John’s Green football match
AFTER MATCH REPORT
On Thursday
the 28th of February 2019, St John’s Green hosted Kelvedon for a
thrilling game of football. The game started off with St John’s centre ball but
Kelvedon soon collected the ball and went on the attack. Kelvedon had some good
shots on goal but the St John’s green defence kept blocking Kelvedon’s shots. Kelvedon
finally got their goal when an accidental handball occurred in the box. The
referee gave a penalty! Charlie stepped up to take it and the keeper had no
chance at stopping Charlie’s spectacular bullet of a shot. After that St John’s
Green didn’t let their heads drop they tried to attack but were intercepted by
Sammy and crossed it in but unfortunately didn’t go anywhere. The rest of the
half Kelvedon dominated the ball but St John’s Green did have some good
attempts but none of them went past Michael in goal. In the end, Kelvedon got 5
more goals. Charlie scored 2 more, securing his hat trick along with Sammy
scoring 2 and Ollie putting 1 past the unfortunate keeper. Which made it 6-0 to
Kelvedon at half time.
Putting
Harry and Ed on at half time, Kelvedon were eager to get into the second half
but St John’s Green were also ready to get a few goals back. Not long after the
second half started, Alfie put in a fabulous cross so Harry could slot the ball
into the back of the net past the stranded keeper. For the next couple of
minutes, Kelvedon just couldn’t hit the target but St John’s Green had some
good chances. However, when Harry pulled an astonishing ball back for Ed, he
belted the ball into bottom corner to improve Kelvedon’s lead. The end score
was 10-0 to Kelvedon due to another goal to Ollie and an unbelievably great
volley goal from outside the box which Harry blasted into the top corner.
