Kelvedon World Cup Final

After two weeks of fierce competition, today was the final of the sixth Kelvedon World Cup. The contest was played between the Kelvedon Kickers and Dream Team. The match was played in good spirit with plenty of pressure applied by Dream Team. However, the Kickers demonstrated excellent defensive resilience - the match ended 0 v 0 after extra time. In the penalty shootout, the Kelvedon Kickers prevailed 2 v 1 which meant they were able to hold the famous old trophy aloft.

 

 

Sporting Competition Success

I thought I would share a photo of our sporting trophy cabinet with you. We have won many competitions over the last few years which is testament to the effort, attitude, skill and desire to improve shown by our children and the time given up by adults which allows the school to enter so many competitions. We have trophies for football, cricket, athletics, rugby, netball and aquathlon as well as our house match trophies - a competition expertly hosted by Mrs Bull this year. Sport is a great way of raising attainment, boosting self-esteem, developing social skills and promoting well being; many children have had the opportunity to represent the school and they have always participated in an exemplary fashion regardless of their success. Well done everyone! Maybe we should ask Mr Walsh for a new trophy cabinet?      Mr Faithfull

Colchester Blackwater Cricket Tournament

Today we took two teams to the Colchester Blackwater cricket tournament over at Colchester Cricket Club. Despite the early morning drizzle, both teams played really well and improved steadily during the tournament. Our second team narrowly lost the final after winning their group and ended up finishing second. I was very impressed with the standard of their bowling and fielding in the final. Our first team narrowly lost to the eventual winner during the group stage (they were winning with 3 balls to go) but ended strongly by winning the 4th / 3rd place final.
