After rearranging from Tuesday, the weather held out today for a fantastic Sports Day. Although we were sad not to be able to invite parents in to enjoy the activity with our normal picnic, we were delighted to enable all the children to participate in an almost normal Sports Day after the turbulent times of recent.
For some KS1 children this was the first Kelvedon Sports Day and what a great time they had. Competing in five events to win points for their houses they showed enthusiasm and super teamwork. There was lots of cheering and support with demonstration of good listening alongside determination to do their best with all their friends. The KS1 events were supported brilliantly by some of the Year 6 children. A big thank you for the understanding and patience from these children. It was lovely to see such positive and caring interaction between the youngest and oldest pupils in school.
KS2 got going straight after lunch and they were more than ready! Fabulous effort all round by everyone with target hitting, teamwork, agility and ball skills all put to the test. Great focus and again plenty of support for all taking part from their teams. A little tight on time in the afternoon, the children were efficient in moving around, showing good listening and a keenness to be ready for the starting bell each time. A massive thank you to the teachers for taking down your own class scores and overseeing each activity, as we were unable to use our usual support from family and friends to do this.
