Essex County Cricket Finals
Congratulations to our school cricket team who attended the Essex County Finals today. We had both boys and girls from years five and six participating and the children represented the school admirably. In the first round group stage, we won both of our matches and qualified as group winners for the second round. In our second round group, we came within two runs of winning our first match and in our last match we competed very well with a school who went on to play in the final. I am really proud of the team and pleased with the way the children improved on their performance as the competition progressed. The team also played within the spirit of cricket which was recognised with an individual award presented to one of our players.

Colchester Blackwater Athletics Tournament
A squad of children from years five and six competed in the annual Colchester Blackwater athletics tournament today. All of our relay teams did very well to qualify for the final of their event. A special mention to our medal winners - Nathaniel Downes (1st - 600 metres), Will Wilton-Steer (1st - throwing a cricket ball) and Kate Shepperd (2nd - 600 metres). As always the children were well behaved and a credit to the school. Thank you to the parents and relatives who attended to support our team of athletes. Mr Faithfull

Year 5 / 6 Cricket Tournament
Congratulations to our year 5 and 6 cricket team who competed at the recent Colchester Blackwater cricket tournament and were the eventual runners up. I received excellent feedback from the adults who accompanied the team and also teachers from other schools that attended the event. Due to our performance at this event, we have qualified for the county finals later this month.
Thank you to Mr Barnes and Mr Gibbs for taking the team in my absence. Mr Faithfull

Girls Football Festival
Our girls football squad were recently invited by Essex Football Association to take part in a football festival at the home of Beacon Hill Rovers in Wickham Bishops. The girls were able to join in training sessions run by Football Association Skills Coaches and play some short matches against other invited schools.
The girls represented the school brilliantly and their attitude and behaviour brought very favourable comments from several of the organisers. They have all now received an open invitation to attend Beacon Hill Rovers training sessions. Grace and Tabitha were both given awards from the coaching team for their efforts throughout the festival.
A huge thank you from Mr Barnes for the exemplary way in which the girls represented the school and a special thank you to Miss Burrows for her invaluable help on the day. If any of the girls would like to take up a Beacon Hill Rovers' invitation they can either contact the club direct or speak to Mr Barnes who will be pleased to make the arrangements on their behalf.
