Colchester Blackwater Football Final

Our football team attended the Colchester Blackwater football finals today. After a bit of a slow start, they won three games, drew three games and lost just the one. That meant they were the overall winners of the tournament and will go on to represent the Colchester partnership at the county finals. Although our performances today didn't quite meet our usual high standards and luck seemed to dessert us at times, I am still very proud of the team and it is a fantastic achievement to qualify for the county finals. Well done everyone who played. Mr Faithfull

Football Friendly v St Peter's (away)

Our football team played a friendly match against St Peter's from Coggeshall this afternoon. The final score was an emphatic 9 v 0 victory. The side continued our tradition of playing a passing game and making sure we won the ball back within five seconds if the opposition gained possession. The goals were shared around the team with Amy Taylor scoring a hat trick; Alex Tassell scoring two headers; and Reece Dolman, Ben Carter and Harvey Murton also getting on the score sheet. The full team was Zach Downes, Harvey Murton (Captain), Alex Jennings, Alex Tassell, Reece Dolman, Ben Carter, Alicia Owen, Amy Taylor and Lewis Buick (who was making his school debut).
Player of the match - Amy Taylor

Future Fixtures: boys' football tournament (Wednesday 11th November @ Plume) and girls' football tournament (Friday 13th November @ Kelvedon St Mary's).

Girls' Colchester Blackwater Football Tournament - Plume Secondary School

Our girls' football team had a tournament in Maldon today as part of our partnership with other schools in the Colchester Blackwater district. Our girls played absolutely fantastically winning seven matches and drawing the other two; this meant we were the over tournament winners. As a result, we will be playing in the county finals in Southend later in the month representing schools from this part of Essex. Well done girls - you were superb today and played with a great spirit, a smile on your face and the correct attitude. Mr Faithfull

Colchester Blackwater Boys' Football Tournament

Our boys' football team competed in and won the Colchester Blackwater football tournament at Plume Secondary School in Maldon - because of this they have qualified for the finals tournament after half term. A resounding win against Millfields in the final was just dessert for several superb performances during the tournament. When we play a passing game with high energy pressing, we are a very tough side to contain. Well done boys!

Football Match: Kelvedon 3 v 0 Montgomery

Our football team continued their fine early season form with a three nil victory at home to Montgomery Junior School. Fielding a side with many players making their school debut, we controlled the game from the beginning, passed the ball nicely and created lots of chances. Our opening goal was scored by Ben Towler who volleyed the ball in from a Reece Dolman corner. The second goal was scored by Alicia Owen who nipped in ahead of the goalkeeper to finish high into the roof the net. In the second half the visiting goalkeeper pulled off many impressive saves before Amy Taylor beat the last defender with a piece of skill and drove the ball under the advancing goalkeeper.

Man of the match - Will Johnson

Future fixtures: boys' football tournament (tomorrow) - friendly vs St Peters (5th November)
