Individual Cross Country Event

Many congratulations go to Jessie, who today competed in the County Cross Country Event. She qualified by previously coming first in the school team event, which we took part in during February.

The overall run was a distance of approx 1500m over mixed terrain and Jessie excelled herself by finishing an accomplished 9th out of 117 runners. A very big well done from all of us!

KFCC opening

To celebrate the opening of the new extension at the Kelvedon and Feering cricket club, two teams of cricketers representing Kelvedon St Marys were invited up to play an exhibition match.  Over seen by one of the cricket club coaches the children played two games of Kwik cricket around the official opening.  A lovely occasion to mark the close links we have in the surrounding community.

Girls' Futsal tournament

Under Mr Barnes management, our team of Year 5 and 6 girls played in the competition hosted by Essex Sport at the Essex university in fantastic facilities.  This was a first opportunity to play futsal for all the girls and they thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon.  The girls' confidence grew as they played on and as a result we found ourselves winners of our pool, which put us into play offs for first or second place.

The final was extremely close as you would expect it to be.  We went 2-0 down but managed to come back to 3-2 before our opponents equalised. Just before the whistle we slotted in a fourth goal to gain us first place and overall tournament winners. It was a great display of teamwork from all the girls and it was a pleasure to be able to go along and support them.  Well done everyone!

Essex Tag Rugby Finals

Kelvedon competed for the first ever time in the Essex Tag Rugby finals. After winning the qualifying tournament out of 10 teams, they met all the winners of other tournaments in the Essex finals. 16 teams entered the tournament. Kelvedon managed a win, draw and loss in the very competitive group stage so they made it to the Super 8's (last 8 teams in Essex). Kelvedon then came against the eventual winners and runner-up in that stage and were shown what the highest teams' levels were. Although that was as far as went, it was lovely to see Kelvedon reach as far as they did. Congratulations to the players who acquitted themselves extremely well and worked together as a team.
