Girls' Essex Coaching - week 2

The Football Association are promoting this week as 'Girls Football Week' and the second of our three coaching sessions delivered by Essex Football Association took place this afternoon. This week the girls practised turning, shielding the ball and tackling through a series of highly enjoyable coaching drills. Our two coaches were again very complimentary about both the skill levels and attitude demonstrated by our players and are very keen to see as many of the girls continuing to play long into the future. If any of the girls want advice on joining a football club, I will be very pleased to help and I'll even come along with them to their initial sessions if required ! The next Essex F.A training session takes place on Monday 9th May (next week is Bank Holiday).  Mr Barnes.

CPSL Football League - Myland 0 v Kelvedon 7

Our football team played their penultimate league match tonight against Myland. There were some opportunities for new players to represent the school and everyone played fantastically well. The end result was a seven nil victory for Kelvedon. B. Towler scored a hat trick, K.Wilding bagged two goals and E.Skubich and F.Elmes-Wright also got on the score sheet. Girls' Football Essex Coaching

In recognition of the commitment our school makes to girl's football, Essex Football Association have organised three coaching sessions for our girls football squad and the first of these took place today. Twenty-two girls took part and this session focused mainly on control and match play. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the training drills that the coaches (Kevin and Sam) introduced and displayed great listening skills, enthusiasm and desire to learn. I was proud to be told by the coaches that the girls were a joy to work with and that Kelvedon St Mary's was one of the very best schools that they have visited. Well done girls, once again you have shown yourselves to be brilliant ambassadors. The next two sessions take place on Monday April 25th and Monday May 9th - if you haven't signed up but would like to attend, let me know as soon as possible.  Mr Barnes.
